Course overview
This short course will consist of around 60 minute’s presentation and 30 minutes Q&A and summarisation. The aim of the course is for attendees to leave with a knowledge of what SHARE is in practical terms, what the benefits of SHARE will be and how they can become involved.

Content
• The deficiencies of the typical approach to standards
• The benefits that industry would like SHARE to deliver
• The SHARE model-based approach
• What this looks like in practice (with a focus on the data management aspects) – examples from GSK who are already implementing the SHARE approach
By the end of this course you will:
• Understand the drawbacks of a typical approach to standards which tends to be experience-based rather than a structured model-based approach
• Understand the key aspects of SHARE
• Have gained insight into how SHARE can be implemented in practice
Course format
This 1.5 hour Webinar will be highly interactive and participants will be encouraged to contribute to discussions and share their experiences.
Trainer: Simon Bishop
After 9 years as a statistician (the last 5 of which were at SmithKline Beecham), Simon became a Statistical Section Head at SmithKline Beecham, a role he did for 7 years. During those 15 years he was involved in many tool/system/process related initiatives including a new reporting system, a new data management system and the creation of a standards group. For the last 9 years, he has been head of GSK’s Clinical Data Standards group. His team developed and still maintain GSK set of standards (covering data management and reporting. More recently his team have been developing the GSK approach to implementation of CDISC. Simon has been part of the CDISC SHARE project since its inception more than 2 years ago.
