This e-seminar examines the biological basis of cancer and presents current developments in cancer services here in the UK. The focus is on the use of new treatments and explores how the pharmaceutical industry is helping to achieve the cancer agenda.


Who should attend?

The webinar is aimed at Project Managers, Clinical Leads, Research Associates, and Data Managers who are responsible for the management and delivery of oncology clinical trials, who would appreciate knowing how their work is helping achieve new treatments and the hope this brings to patients with cancer.

• What is cancer?
• What is the Cancer Plan and how far are we in achieving it?
• Standard treatment modalities to targeted therapies. Are they making a difference?
• Why do cancer patients participate in clinical trials?
• Cancer as a chronic disease – what does surviving the disease mean?

By the end of this seminar you will:

• Have gained a broad understanding of cancer
• Understand the developments within cancer services using the UK experience as an example
• Have an understanding of how new drugs are being used.
• Understand what this means for patients

Course format

This is a 1 hour 30 minute e- seminar run by an oncology healthcare professional with over 25 years experience in caring for people with cancer. It provides the basis for a subsequent seminar to be held in November. Participation is actively encouraged and questions welcomed.

This course will be held as a 'webinar' from 12:00 - 13:30 on Tuesday 6th April 2010.

Webinar participation is £300 plus VAT per location. There is no limit to the number of delegates participating from one location.
