Understanding the Roles of Other CR Professionals
Course overview
This workshop provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of core Clinical Research Study Team members, Pharmacovigilance, Quality Assurance and Investigational Site Personnel. The workshop will focus on how the Data Manager can work most effectively with key personnel and discuss lessons learned from real studies.

• Typical study team and site personnel organisational structures
• Overview of the following roles and their key responsibilities/accountabilities in the clinical trial process:
o Project Management
o Clinical Research Associates
o Statisticians
o Medical Writers
o Study Team Physician
o Pharmacovigilance
o Quality Assurance Auditors
o Investigator
o Research Nurse/Clinical Research Coordinator
• Effective study team interactions to ensure timely and quality delivery of clinical data
By the end of this course you will:
• Have gained a solid understanding of study team member roles and their main responsibilities and accountabilities on a clinical trial
• Have gained a solid understanding of investigational site personnel roles and their main responsibilities and accountabilities on a clinical trial
• Be able to apply your learning to ensure a more effective interaction with study team and site colleagues.
• Be aware of common pitfalls resulting from a poor understanding of each others roles, and be able to adjust behaviour to avoid them.
Course format
This is a one day classroom course run by an experienced clinical research professional. The course is highly interactive, workshop style and includes a variety of trainer input, case studies, group activities and personal reflection. Participants will be encouraged to interact with each-other, contribute to class discussions and share their experiences.
