Trainer biography: Jane Depledge


Jane Depledge

Jane has worked for over 25 years in the health service in a variety of roles caring for patients with cancer. Using knowledge gained from working as a clinical research nurse, a specialist practitioner and educationalist she is able to convey in simple terms what cancer is and how it impacts upon the patient. By means of real life anecdotes the patient’s experience of the disease and treatment is expertly conveyed.

She is passionate about the holistic health of patients and the promotion and support of teamwork, which includes those people helping patients remote from the bedside. Knowledge of the patient experience brings data alive and adds meaning to the work under investigation.

Jane has many years experience facilitating Oncology training for Data managers working on a variety of cancer trials.

Jane is a member of both the UK and European Oncology Nursing Society’s and editorial board member on the Journal of Cancer Care regularly reviewing for this journal and the European Journal of Cancer Nursing. She has published on a range of topics and participated in cancer peer reviews and production of cancer guidelines. She has worked with the pharmaceutical industry in a number of education projects and is currently expanding her complementary therapy practice as well as researching. She is a member of the Royal College of Nursing, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
